I abhor rain. Since I realize rain is necessary, I'm prepared to put up with it -- some of the time.
We've been, I really don't know how long, without sun and its depressing.
I've started wearing black. It fits my mood. Last night I attended an Italian dinner catered by a local expat who likes to cook. Thirty people were in attendance. I'd say seventy-five percent of us were dressed in black.
I'm leaving southern Mexico August 15, returning mid-October. By the time I return the rainy season ought to be over. Next year I will not be in southern Mexico throughout the entire rainy season.

I know how you feel! I actually like rain, but it's been days now of pretty much solid rain here in Puerto, everything we own is musty or damp or worse, the cats are grumpy, and I am eating too much and not walking enough.
Have a safe trip!
Oh,no! You're not serious, right? Tere's a song "it never rains in Oaxaca" (or was ist California?) and if, then only for an hour a day. It's the city of external spring! And now you are leaving ?! How can I tell my wife? I told her that Oaxaca is the paradise to retire and that you are living proof - I guess I'm getting dressed in black, too.
I wish you all the best.
Peter
